While the CeraVe Foaming Facial Cleanser is calibrated for normal to oily and combination skin’s oil-removal needs, the Moisturizing Cleanser is specifically formulated for the different requirements of dry and sensitive skin — skin that needs effective daily cleansing but cannot tolerate the dehydrating effect that even gentle foaming cleansers can produce in skin with a compromised or dry lipid barrier. The Moisturizing Cleanser’s cream formula uses a lower-surfactant, non-foaming mechanism that lifts away impurities and daily buildup without the aggressive lipid-stripping that produces the tightness, flakiness, and discomfort that dry skin types experience after washing with conventional cleansers. CeraVe’s MVE (Multivesicular Emulsion) technology simultaneously deposits ceramides back into the skin during the cleansing step itself — restoring the barrier lipids that even the gentlest cleansing displaces and ensuring that dry skin emerges from washing in a better-protected, more hydrated state than it entered it.

Suggested Use
Apply CeraVe Moisturizing Cleanser to dry or damp skin morning and evening. Unlike foaming cleansers, cream cleansers often perform well applied to dry skin first — dispense a small amount to the fingertips and massage gently over the face in circular motions, then add a small amount of lukewarm water to emulsify the formula before rinsing thoroughly. Pat dry gently with a soft towel — never rub, as mechanical friction aggravates dry and sensitive skin. Follow immediately with CeraVe Moisturizing Cream or a ceramide-rich moisturiser while the skin is still slightly damp to lock in the post-cleanse hydration and compound the barrier-restoration benefit of the Moisturizing Cleanser’s ceramide formula.
